Private Yoga

Private yoga in Tenerife. The word “Yoga” means union, union between body, mind and spirit. Yoga is a  practical science or discipline that works on the physical and energetic body in order to achieve control on the mind.

The practice of yoga brings balance to the body, mind and soul. This balance leads us to be healthy in every levels: physical, mental and emotional.

Yoga can be practiced by anyone at any age: by beginners who want to learn the foundations of the practice of hatha yoga and proper alignment as well as by intermediate and advanced practitioners who want to take their practice a step further and work on personal needs and goals.

Private yoga classes allows for: individual attention from the teacher, who can focus time and energy on you, giving you personalized instruccions, and the corrections and adjustments you deserve; and the sequences and overall feeling of the class to be directed at what your personal goals or needs are.

You can choose one of these yoga styles. Otherwise the class may be tailored according to your needs or preferences:

Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga means the yoga of the sun and the moon. Its principle is to unify and balance the solar and lunar energies of the person: left and right side of the body, ying and yang, feminine and masculine, etc

In this style, postures are practiced slowly and deep to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body, building strong foundations of body mind and breath and learning deeper the asanas (postures) that matter more for you (standing postures, twists, backbends, forward folds, hip openers or/and inversions). Breathing techniques and meditation can also be integrated acording to your demands / inquiry. You will develop a balance of strength and flexibility.

Hatha Yoga Flow

Ha – tha means sun and moon, flow – means moving in balanced union (Yoga). Hatha Flow will sycnchronize the breath with movement.

This style is focused on slowly flowing from pose to pose and linking the movement with the breath, focused on the correct alignment of the body during the postures and the coordination between body and breath while entering, holding and changing or leaving the posture. Postures are also practiced slowly and deep but more in a flow way.

Vinyasa flow

Vinyasa flow is a dinamic manifestation of yoga. It is fast and flowing, vigorous on the body and yet can have soothing effects on the mind.

Same than Hatha Flow, Vinyasa Flow will sycnchronize the breath with movement.

A sun salutation, Surya Namaskar, is an example of a Vinyasa: separate postures are linked together in a flowing motion, one after the other.

A Vinyasa practice is considered more of an intermediate practice because of the correlation between fluid movement and breath, it demands control on your breath; if you can control the breath you can link it smoothly with movement.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a cooling and pasive yoga practice where postures are holded for longer time – whose benefits are to improve the fascial and connective tissues, promote joint health and flexibility, mental calmness, self-knowledge, etc. This patient practice teaches us physical and mental stillness, mindfulness and conscious breathing.

It integrates the ancient Yoga teachings with Meridian Theory as taught in Chinese Medicine. It is an excellent practice for building flexibility, and a great balance for more dynamic activities or sports.

Gentle yoga

Suitable to everyone including people with limitations, Gentle Yoga is a more relaxed yoga practice focused on breath and body awareness.

Gentle Yoga, as its name suggest, is a low intensity practice designed to promote relaxation and reduce stress, beneficial to improve flexibility and release tension.

One gentle yoga class can includes gentle yoga postures (asana practice), breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation.

This type of yoga consists of slight modifications of the standard poses of hatha yoga in order to adapt the practice to the level, need and physical condition of each practitioner.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, means «yogic sleep«. It is a long guided deep relaxation practice where you will be able to reach the complete relaxation state between waking and sleeping, maintaining full consciousness. While you lie down in shavasana (corpse pose) you will be guided by a set of verbal instructions, The purpose is to turn the awareness inward by listening, just listening.

Kundalini Yoga

As taught by Yogi Bhajan

Kundalini Yoga is also called «Yoga of awareness«. The primary aim of Kundalini yoga is to awaken the kundalini energy, which lies at the base of the spine.

kundalini class begins with a chant and is followed up by a warmup. The main part of the class is the kriya (set of exercises), which combines physical postures and breathing techniques and ends with a meditation, relaxation and chant. Each Kriya and meditation has a specific purpose.

The kriyas work on strengthening your nervous system, balancing your glandular system, purifying the body and calming the mind.
